Volunteer to serve as a judge for Alabama History Day 2026! Our state contest is April 9, in Montevallo. We also have regional contests in North and South Alabama, in February.
Sign up nowWe are looking for Alabamians interested in celebrating researched history projects created by Alabama students (grades 6-12)! After months of diligent research and creative energy, winning students from the local level will meet at our state-wide event. You can help them further hone their skills by evaluating entries, interviewing contestants, and selecting winners to represent our state in the National History Day competition.
While most judges work in the humanities (as educators, librarians, museum professionals, writers, and more) all volunteers interested in witnessing the impressive documentaries, exhibits, performances, research papers, and websites created by Alabama youth are encouraged to judge!
Follow this link to sign up as a volunteer judge for this year’s competition. You will need to create an account and establish yourself as “Judge” (not “Teacher,” “Volunteer,” etc.).
See our Judges’ Registration Instructions.
