Alabama History Day is a state-level affiliate of National History Day, a year-long program that offers students a creative and dynamic way to engage with history — and make it relevant for today. The Alabama Humanities Alliance presents History Day annually, with the competition open to all public, private, and home schools. AHD is an effective and fun project-based learning tool for teachers, too!
Our 2023 Alabama History Day celebration will be held on the campus of Auburn University at Montgomery. There, students will share their creativity -- presenting their research as papers, documentaries, websites, dramatic performances, or visual exhibits.
All projects can be researched and presented individually or in teams. We offer two divisions: Junior (Grades 6-8) and Senior (Grades 9-12). Special awards are available, and winning participants are eligible to advance to National History Day.
Registration opens: December 5, 2022.
Registration closes and projects due for judging: February 13, 2023
Teacher trainings and AHD resources available!
