Guiseppe Moretti is best known for creating the cast iron statue of Vulcan that sits atop Red Mountain in Birmingham. However, his first love was marble. There are numerous marble sculptures of his in the Birmingham area. He was also an investor in three marble quarries in the state and promoted awareness of the high quality of Sylacauga marble.
