AHA will honor four new Alabama Humanities Fellows this year, through our 2024 Alabama Colloquium series. The concluding event, in Birmingham on December 2, will honor Rick Bragg and Roy Wood Jr.
On December 2 in Birmingham, the Alabama Humanities Alliance (AHA) will recognize writer Rick Bragg and humorist Roy Wood Jr. as Alabama Humanities Fellows.
This ticketed event in the Jemison Concert Hall at UAB’s Alys Stephens Center will feature an in-depth conversation between two of Alabama’s finest, and funniest, writers and storytellers.
While they utilize different mediums and styles, Bragg and Wood Jr. share something at their core: They are insightful storytellers who challenge us all to think, to empathize, and to explore what it means to be human.
Tickets for this special event are now on sale through Alys Stephens Center’s Box Office. All proceeds benefit AHA’s public humanities programming statewide.
Our appreciation to presenting sponsors Regions Bank, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, and Huntsville Utilities for their support.
Additional special guests include:
Rick Bragg has long been lauded as one of the most distinct, illustrative storytellers in American literature. He's authored more than a dozen books, won a Pulitzer Prize for his reporting, and now teaches writing at the University of Alabama.
Roy Wood Jr. is a comedian, an Emmy-nominated documentary producer, and was a longtime correspondent on the Emmy-winning 'The Daily Show.’ He has headlined the White House Correspondents Dinner, and been an ambassador for Birmingham’s Rickwood Field.
