Join us January 17 for a book talk and book-signing event with journalist and civic educator Alexander Heffner. Presented by the Alabama Humanities Alliance in partnership with our friends at the David Mathews Center for Civic Life.
Heffner is the host of PBS' "The Open Mind" and "Breaking Bread with Alexander," seen on Bloomberg TV. He is also co-editor of “A Documentary History of the United States,” a fascinating collection, and interpretation, of documents that have forged American history.
The book -- first published in 1952 by Heffner’s grandfather, the late historian Richard D. Heffner -- has been updated by Alexander to include more recent history. The book includes everything from America’s founding documents, Supreme Court decisions, and inaugural addresses to era-defining speeches, letters, poems, debates, and even...tweets.
