AHA grantee the Alabama Department of Archives & History (ADAH) hosts a monthly lunch time lecture titled, "Food for Thought" every first Thursday.

For January, scholar John S. Sledge will present Mobile and Havana: Sisters Across the Gulf. Sledge will discuss his most recent work, Mobile and Havana: Sisters Across the Gulf, which examines the many historic ties between the port cities of Mobile, Alabama, and Havana, Cuba. Sledge, along with historians and photographers from each side of the Gulf of Mexico, presents an illustrated survey of the connections between the two cities and the memorable lives of the people who linked them. By blending words and images, Mobile and Havana share a colorful, complex, and sometimes difficult story.
