"Chinese Painting: Its History and Unique Process."

Traditional Chinese painting often incorporates poetry and calligraphy to form a unique artistic expression or representation. It is unique in its styles in depicting the real or imaginary world and expressing feelings or thoughts. Dr. Guanping Zheng is a professor of media art and the director of the Center for Asian Studies at Middle Tennessee State University. He will introduce the history of Chinese painting and demonstrate its creative process. Attendees will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience with Chinese paint materials and tools.

This event is part of a month-long series of events at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library complementing the Smithsonian traveling exhibit, "I Want the Wide American Earth: An Asian Pacific American Story"
