The Path to Influence is an exploration into the life and impact of the legendary musician Jackie Mills, a 2023 blues honoree of the Wiregrass Blues Society.
This event will explore Jackie Mills’ career as a talented jazz drummer and how he was impacted by changing musical styles and musical history – particularly the emergence of bebop. The event will feature a talk on the highlights of Mills' career, presented by music scholars Dr. Jeneve Brooks and Dr. Ken Thomas, followed by an audience Q&A.
The evening will also feature actual video clips of Jackie playing, as well as a live trio playing songs to demonstrate the various genres of jazz music in Jackie Mills’ decades-long career.
