"Birmingham's Early Middle Eastern Community," a SUPER Teacher workshop led by scholar Annie DeVries, Ph.D., associate professor of world history at Samford University. Workshop will draw on the story told in Vulcan's current AHA-funded exhibition of the same name. That exhibit traces the history of Birmingham’s first Middle Eastern community, beginning in 1910 with the arrival of Christian immigrants from present-day Syria and Lebanon.
