As part of the city of Birmingham's 2023 Forging Justice Commemoration Week, the Alabama Humanities Alliance is partnering with historic Bethel Baptist Church to present a national conference on history and healing.
"There IS a Balm in Gilead: Healing from the Events of 1963" offers a look back in order to illuminate a path forward. This three-day conference will offer sessions that focus on learning from the past, healing from racial trauma, resolving conflict, and more. There's also an extended "classroom track" designed for educators.
