This presentation is an overview history of Sylacauga's marble, which is compared to the Carrera marble outside Pietrasanta, Italy and the Parian marble once quarried on the island of Paros off the coast of Greece. It covers early history, the value of sculpture, the industrial uses beginning in the 1930s, and the eventual development of the annual marble festival held in the town every year. Another version of this program, which was developed for presentation at ADAH, is titled What Lies Beneath: Sylacauga's Abundant Mineral Resource.
